Who Cessnock Plumbing Co Is

Cessnock Plumbing Co is the plumbing and gas team for Cessnock, Aberdare and Abermain in Cessnock. We clear blocked drains, repair and replace hot water systems, fit gas appliances and answer after-hours calls. Census figures count 5,643 dwellings here, 84.1 per cent of them separate houses, and much of that stock predates the 1980s, so the work is mostly old pipe and tired cylinders. Read who we are.

Cessnock Plumbing Services

Six areas of work sit below. Beyond them, we handle commercial plumbing for the Vincent Street shops and kitchens, and fit gutter guards to keep leaf litter out of downpipes.

Built Fast, Plumbed to Last a Century

Old pipe under old streets

Cessnock boomed on coal between 1903 and 1923, and the plumbing from those decades is still in service. Pre-war weatherboards near the CBD run on original galvanised water pipe, and when the rust wins, pressure at the tap fades long before anything visibly leaks. The honest fix is swapping the whole run over to copper, not a washer.

Clay sewers in shifting ground

Under the older neighbourhoods the sewers are still interwar clay, and the reactive ground they sit in moves each time it wets up or dries out. Each shift works a joint loose, and roots from mature yard trees find the gap, especially after a dry spell.

Cylinders at the end of their run

The 1950s-70s housing tracts hold storage heaters well past their best, many in original outside recesses. A frosty morning is often when one quits for good, and the call is usually for a full replacement.

How the Quote Is Settled

"Not only all of that but the job came in right on quote." Steve

It costs nothing to get us out to your door (excluding after-hours).

The price moves with the job:

  • Reach Since a pipe under a raised floor is simpler to get at than one set into a concrete slab
  • Pipe material Since replacing a rusted galvanised run is a different job to patching copper
  • Parts With cylinders and appliances priced before anything is ordered
  • After-hours call-outs Which carry a higher rate quoted before anyone leaves

When we're not the right call. Cracked walls or a sagging roof are building work, so we point you to a builder instead of writing a quote.

What Happens From Your First Call

  1. 1

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4063 3475 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 2

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 3

    The work, done in order

The plumber carries out the quoted job, then proves the result, running the camera down drain lines so you see them clear.

  4. 4

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

Frost, Storms and the Strip

Winter sorts the calls early

The valley floor runs hotter than the coast in summer and colder on winter nights, with the long-run average sitting at 8.2 frost days a year. A cold start is hard on a storage heater that is already tired.

Summer brings the water

Storm cells rolling in off the Brokenback Range hit the town bowl hard, and the old drains down in the low streets back up before the downpour has even stopped. The creek flats through town flood in big storms, but most houses sit on rises above them.

The strip has its own faults

Grease builds up in the kitchen lines along the Vincent Street food strip, and older gas connections in the same strip often need upgrading before they pass a modern pressure test.

What Customers Say

Plumbers were friendly, helpful, gave great advice. Very easy.
Cass
They finished the job, explained everything well, and left the space clean. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Where This Run Reaches

The work spreads out from the town across the whole postcode. We cover Aberdare, Abermain and Bellbird on the same run, along with the streets in between. If your place sits beyond them, ring and ask, because we confirm the run on the phone.

The Questions Cessnock Households Ask

Do you charge a call-out fee?

It costs nothing to get us out to your door (excluding after-hours). We come out, inspect the fault and name a fixed price, and the work only begins once you have seen the figure and agreed.

Are you available after hours and on weekends?

Yes, we are available 24/7. Burst pipes, overflowing sewers and dead hot water systems do not keep business hours, so neither does the phone. After-hours jobs are quoted at the higher rate before anyone heads out.

How quickly can a plumber get to my house?

Nobody can honestly put a number on arrival times from a phone. Available 24/7 means the phone is answered day and night, urgent faults are booked as urgent, and we step you through what is safe in the meantime.

Which suburbs do you cover?

Cessnock itself, plus Aberdare, Abermain and Bellbird on the same run. A street or two further out is still worth the call, because ringing is free and we confirm the run then and there.

Is your gas work done by licensed gas fitters?

Yes. Licensed plumbers and gas fitters handle every gas job, from a cooktop install to a leak trace. Gas work that fails a pressure test is dangerous, so it is never handed to a general handyman.

What warranty comes with the work?

Every job carries a 365-day warranty on all work. A fault in anything we fitted or repaired during those twelve months brings us back to fix it, and the return visit is booked through the same number you rang the first time.
